Interested in camping at Big Moose Oct 9,10. Are there any camp sites available.

  • Bob Pollaro says:

My friend and I love your stuff. It is so ridiculously informative!

Looking for advice on your favorite camping spots in the Moose River Plains.

    Thank you.

    • Andy says:

I like campsite 56 as it’s totally hidden from the road, and campsite 80 which has a little known trail back to the Moose River. But any of the campsites around the Big T and the Red River with the sand and the open canopy are quite nice.

  • Karolee says:

Hey! Really love all the info you have here and so appreciative that you actually have the coordinates for us to find them πŸ˜‚ do you have any suggestions or opinions for the best roadside spots with access to waterways? Very helpful with cooking, having kids and pups

  • Kelsey Baldascini says:

Great informative site! Do you have any suggestions for sites for groups:2-3 rvs and 3 people in tent/vehicle?

    • Andy says:

50-54 and Helldiver Pond Road, which is 57-60 I believe, along with the loop near Silver Brook that is 9-13 or somewhere around the number of sites.

  • Looking for recommended vehicle accessible sites with privy closer to Inlet. Interested in easy hikes nearby. And lakes, ponds or othet areas that people always see or hear loons. Planning for end of July 2022 with my husband and will be almost 15 years old grandson. It will be our first time camping outside of established state parks and private campgrounds. We have a Jeep Liberty with 4 wheel drive and probably tents. But may have our tent camper if we can get roof repaired by then

    • Andy says:

In July usually Rock Dam Road is opened. There are several nice sites there. Or you can the mainline Cedar River Limekiln Lake Road for good camping anywhere along there. Campsites start five miles to the south east of the Limekiln Lake entrance, it’s fairly remote – 20 minute drive from the entrance

  • RJ says:

Does anyone know what the location (coordinates) are for Site 87?

  • robert L beirman says:

    Hello,
I see there are campsites on Blue Mountain Lake Islands, but very hard finding info on them. DEC locator don’t even show the islands or sites. Any Info on camping these sites?? Thanks>>

    • Andy says:

The DEC mentions those sites on their website but I’ve not been to those islands, and it’s not in the DEC database or Open Street Map.

      https://www.dec.ny.gov/lands/114323.html

    • Michael McNamara says:

I’ve stayed at one of those sites at the western point of Long Island. Rented a boat at the Blue Mountain Lake marina. They were nice sites. Very secluded. I think only one other site was occupied while we were there, but you’d never know. At the public boat launch there is a sign-in book for the sites. There’s also access to hike Castle Rock from the lake close to the campsites.
